My mother died in 2016 at the age of 49, I was 21. She was gone and I was hit with the agonizing reality that the sacred maternal bond we had shared was forever severed on the physical plane. Losing that maternal connection became all I could think about - its power and how there is no life without it. What I have learned since, is that our connection still exists and will always exist in spirit, for every connection is spiritual.

Through my spirituality, I have found gratitude in my mother's death. I have come to believe that in each life experience is a lesson - the more painful the experience, the deeper the lesson cuts. These lessons have the power to transform us, which means these lessons have the power to transform the world - for better or for worse.

Using acrylic paint on canvas, my work seeks to explore what I believe it means to be human, and how many aspects of modern life (as pre-historic flesh-vessels living in a technologically-advanced world) have ceased to make sense in my grief. We are spiritual creatures living in a spiritually devoid time, I want my art to reconnect people to the spirit.
